Pink And Orange Brass Bell Gungroo Anklets

This pair of Kathak Ghungroo anklets is a traditional musical accessory used in Indian classical dance.

It is made of a thick, padded fabric cushion designed to sit comfortably against the ankle and absorb the impact of footwork. It has three rows of brass bells hand-stitched onto the padding, 30 bells in total. Each bell contains a small metal ball that produces a rhythmic chime during movement.

They fasten using the long, braided cotton cords are attached to both ends to allow the dancer to wrap and tie the anklets

These are primarily used in Kathak to accentuate the dancer’s rhythmic patterns.
The reinforced stitching ensures that the bells remain attached even during high intensity performances. The wrap-around cord design makes these adjustable to various ankle sizes, the padded part and bells are a total of 9.5” long and around 2” wide.
These have been used once for a performance.
